Roots & Wings CSA

Come and experience a CSA pick-up! 7:30 - 9:30 AM @ the parking lot behind South Church. Select produce available for purchase to non-members that day.

Nancy Delmerico is the Roots & Wings CSA coordinator. She can be reached at rootswingscsa@gmail.com

ROOTS & WINGS CSA pickup is Sunday mornings between 7:30 and 9:30 at the South Presbyterian Church’s parking lot, in Dobbs Ferry. Please consider walking or biking over!  When you arrive, simply check in with whichever volunteer is holding the clipboard and then pick up your share. Please bring a bag, box, crate or basket. The produce will be in crates on the table and signs will tell you how much to take of each.

Each week we do need two people to help out with checking people in and putting new crates on the table, setting up tables, etc. Sign up for your shift here.

If you have a 15 week share, please let Nancy know by Wednesday evening if you will NOT be picking up the following Sunday. This is very important as the pick assignments for Thursday through Saturday are given to Rexcroft Farm's crew at 6 AM on Thursday.

REXCROFT FARM grows and raises things that are not part of a share but  are available to purchase. They regularly have eggs, honey, ground beef, pork and cut flowers. Periodically they will have steaks, roasts and maple syrup.

Look here for the product list Farmer Dan King will be putting out every couple of weeks.

And, if there is something you would like, please let him know.

Special orders go straight to Dan King at at rexcroftfarm@gmail.com.

Sunday mornings, 7 – 9 AM, June – October, at the South Church parking lot on Oak Street.

Produce is from a 7th generation family farm located in beautiful Greene County, NY, about 100 miles north of Dobbs Ferry. From amaranth to zucchini and everything in between, Rexcroft Farm grows over 250 varieties of vegetables and fruits, delivering it within hours of harvest, to Roots & Wings CSA.

The 2015 season will run for 20 weeks. It starts in the beginning of June runs through the end of October. You get the season's freshest produce, and since your share is pre-paid, you get first dibs on what is being picked.

The 15 week option lets you choose which 15 weeks you will pick up. The CSA Manager will email you in the beginning of each week reminding you to let her know by Wednesday if you will be opting out that week.

Vegetable shares include 7 - 10 different items each week.

Fruit share adds 1-2 types of fruit each week.

CSA Members can also place orders for local maple syrup, eggs, honey directly with Rexcroft Farm.

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It’s one of the best ways to eat fresh, healthy food and support local farms. When you become a member of a CSA, you're purchasing a “share” of the harvest from a regional farmer. Many members enjoy the community aspect of the weekly pick-up; sharing recipes and ideas, as well as vegetables, with like-minded people.

Rexcroft Farm Is an Integrated Pest Management farm, and relies on beneficial insects to combat pests as well as organically approved Insecticidal soap and other natural oils. They do not use genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Rexcroft Farm has been a member of Greenmarket in the NYC area since 1998. They are members of Farm Bureau and are a Pride of NY Farm. This is their 8th year as a Westchester CSA.

Dan King,
7th generation farmer
of Rexcroft Farm
input as to what is grown. When you sign up, if there is something that you would like to have, let me know. I'll do my best to make sure we grow it. You can contact me at info@rexcroftfarm.com.

He continues, "We are unique from other CSAs in that we offer a choice style pickup. You are not forced to take what was pre-bagged for you. Instead, you get to pick which bunch of kale, or which size tomato, or which basket of fruit you want. Additionally, we have an exchange table. If there is an item you do not want, leave it for someone else. If someone left an item on the table that you would like, help yourself."
